ABIGAIL POGREBIN is the author of My Jewish Year: 18 Holidays, One Wondering Jew, which was featured on the Today Show and well-reviewed in the New York Times. She also wrote Stars of David: Prominent Jews Talk about Being Jewish for which she interviewed 62 famous Jews about their religious identity – including Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Steven Spielberg and Joan Rivers. Her book One and the Same covered every aspect – scientific and psychological – of being a twin, and Showstopper chronicled her teenage adventure in the legendary Broadway flop by Stephen Sondheim: “Merrily We Roll Along.” Formerly a producer for Mike Wallace and Ed Bradley at 60 Minutes, she has written for The Atlantic, Newsweek, New York Magazine, The Forward, Tablet, Vogue, and The Daily Beast. Her new book – co-authored with Rabbi Dov Linzer, President of Yeshivat Chovevei Torah, published in September, 2024, is called, It Takes Two to Torah: An Orthodox Rabbi and a Reform Journalist Discuss and Debate Their Way through the Five Books of Moses. Pogrebin was Director of Jewish Outreach for Michael Bloomberg’s 2020 presidential campaign, she moderates her own interview series on The Jewish Broadcasting Service, she’s a member of AJC’s Muslim-Jewish Advisory Council, a trustee of the Hartman Institute, a trustee at Yale University’s Slifka Center, and is a past president of Central Synagogue in Manhattan. She is mostly proud that her son, Benjamin, is a public high school history teacher, and her daughter, Molly, is in law school – with a focus on criminal justice reform.
